Vehicle Carpet Cleaning Tips

Would you like some vehicle carpet cleaning tips? If you love a clean car, then you know just how satisfying it can be to get every single surface of your vehicle perfectly spotless. One of the spots that people can sometimes forget about, though, is the carpets. This is arguably one of the grossest places in your car if you really think about it. Everything you step on follows you in there on your shoes, and if you have pets or kids, it gets even messier. Don’t worry, though, we’re here with some helpful tips to make sure your carpet gets spic and span!

  • Vacuum first, always: This should be your first step when it comes to cleaning your car’s carpets. Give the entire thing a thorough vacuuming to get all of the debris out of the way. If you have removable pieces, you can take those out, give them a shake, and vacuum underneath. If you have pets, follow that up with a squeegee to get all of their little furs out, because a vacuum may not get all of that as well.
  • Cleaning your mats: Remember those removable mats we just mentioned? Yep, those will need a good clean too. These can come in a variety of material types, but a solid plan is to give them a good shake and then hose them off and let them air dry. Or, if your washer/dryer is up to the challenge and the mats are carpet, toss them in there for a full clean!
  • Stain Removal: Your car very likely will have some carpet stains. From muddy shoes to kids to pets, there are so many ways that your carpets get to be a wreck. If you’re dealing with this, then now is the time to implement a carpet cleaner. Whatever one you use at home will work just as well for your vehicle. Apply to any stained areas, then let it sit for about 5 minutes. Gently scrub the stain with a soft-bristled brush, then hit the rest of the carpet. Clean with a damp cloth and then let the interior dry completely. This will mean that you need to leave the car open for a few hours, so you’ll need to remember to check on it every once in a while.
    • Got some weird stains? We’ve got vehicle carpet cleaning hacks for that.
      • Hairspray for ink stains in your car carpet: Spray the hairspray on the stain and let it sit until you notice it’s starting to fade. After that, use cold water and a paper towel to blot the stained area. Repeat until clean!
      • Don’t have a regular carpet cleaner? Try glass cleaner. It won’t leave any kind of sticky residue and you can use a bunch. Pour it on, let it soak for about 5 minutes, then use a paper towel and dab at the stain until it pulls away.
      • Food or throw-up stains? You’ll need something that can neutralize the acidity of that. You can use just a simple club soda to handle this. You’ll need to pick up as much of the gunk as possible before treating, then pour the club soda on and use a cloth to clean it up. Repeat as needed until the stain is gone.

When it comes to cleaning the carpets in your vehicle, we don’t want it to feel like a full-time job. You also shouldn’t have to shell out money to go to a professional every time your car is getting dirty. These vehicle carpet cleaning tips should hopefully help you get the job done faster and more efficiently, so that you can get back to focusing on the important things!
